Congratulations to Kenney Solomon for being named Athlete of the Week. The Sports and Entertainment Marketing classes at Socastee High School in partnership with the athletic department sponsor this weekly award.
Kenney is a senior on the varsity football team and served as one of the captains this season. He plays wide receiver and cornerback for the Braves. He is also a standout performer on the track team and was a state finalist last season. “I liked how we came together as a team this season and my favorite thing about football is that it is a brotherhood sport,” said Kenney. He was recently selected to play in the North-South All Star football game and will represent Socastee on December 15. The game will be played at Coastal Carolina University’s Brooks Stadium. “It is a blessing to play in the North-South All Star game and my goal is to play college football and get a good education,” explained Kenney.
Coach Jones, one of Kenney’s position coaches, said the following: “Kenney was a vocal leader for the team this season. He was forced into a position change at the beginning of the season, playing running back for the first time. His progression throughout the season put us in a position to win games in a tough 5A conference. Kenney has a bright future ahead of him and will be deciding on where he will spend the next five years of his life soon. He has over 15 offers from major Division I schools and looks to be an asset to their program.”
