Boys Junior Varsity Lacrosse, Boys Varsity Lacrosse · Dowd and Sperbeck Win All-State Lacrosse Awards

Congratulations to Alec Dowd and Stephen Sperbeck who were selected as All-State Recipients by the South Carolina Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Alec Dowd was selected as 1st Team All-State.  He was voted as the number one Face-Off Midfielder in South Carolina.  He finished his senior season with a 68.3 winning percentage and a career 62.8 winning percentage.  He scored 19 goals and had 8 assists for 27 points his senior year and finished his career with 36 goals and 16 assists.  Alec’s greatest achievement was his ability to get the ball, with a combination of 172 face-off wins and 98 ground balls this year, finishing his career with 427 face-off wins and 340 ground balls, he will finish first in both categories for his career.  He was a 4 year letter winner and a captain during his senior season. He will finish as Socastee’s career leader in multiple categories, specifically 1st in face-off wins and ground balls, and 3rd in face-off win percentage.  Alec will be attending Lincoln Memorial University in the fall, joining Socastee Lacrosse Alumni Nick Borriello and JC Bulleman.

Stephen Sperbeck was selected as 2nd Team All-State, and 1st Team All Lower-State.  Stephen was voted as the 8th out of all the Midfielders in South Carolina.  He finished his Senior Season with 20 goals and 10 assists for 30 points, bringing his career numbers to 54 goals and 13 assists for a total of 67 points.  Stephen helped Alec be more successful on face-offs this year by collecting 48 ground balls with a career total of 142.  While his face-off stats are nowhere near as impressive as Alec’s numbers, his percentage this year was better, 100%, going 1 of 1 for the season.  Stephen’s greatest contribution, however, was his leadership to the team.  He was the team’s sole captain last year and co-captain this year with Alec and Ross Mashburn.  He was the player we put in when we needed a play and he played every position on the field but one this season.  While his contributions on the field will be missed, we will miss his leadership the most.  Stephen will be attending Coker College in the fall, joining Socastee Lacrosse Alumni Jiovany Rendon.

Congratulations on their hard work!
